Cowboy Trail Embraces a New Future

At the Annual General Meeting of The Cowboy Trail Tourism Association (CTTA) on December 14, 2012, the decision was taken to pursue a bold new strategy for 2013.

As they move aggressively into the future, the CTTA will utilize their very popular website,, as the exclusive vehicle to promote their members’ authentic western experiences. In addition, a new approach to membership for 2013 will see members pay one low membership fee which will include a full-page listing on the website. This will provide small tourism businesses with limited budgets highly affordable, yet effective, marketing.

The Cowboy Trail marketing brochure will become a part of an innovative new tourism publication, Experience Kananaskis Country & The Cowboy Trail, produced by CMI Publishing of Calgary. This unique collaboration allows the CTTA to take advantage of CMI’s expertise while concentrating their attention on promoting members through The Cowboy Trail website. In early May, 2013, 50,000 copies of Experience Kananaskis Country & The Cowboy Trail will begin appearing in Visitor Information Centres and at tourism outlets in Alberta.

Neil MacLaine, CTTA President, shared his enthusiasm for this innovative collaboration by saying, “I see this as the perfect opportunity for CTTA members to devote their time and energy to delivering a wide range and variety of products that bring the western spirit to life along the eastern slopes of the Rocky Mountains.” He went on to say that, “CMI delivers a level of knowledge and professionalism in publication production and distribution that surpasses what can be accomplished by a small group of volunteers. This, combined with CMI’s passion for Alberta’s western heritage and life style, makes them an ideal partner for the CTTA.”

Bob Harris, President of CMI Publishing reiterated Mr. MacLaine’s comments and added that, “He is proud to partner with the CTTA in promoting the authentic lifestyle and experiences that are the heart of The Cowboy Trail and its members.”
