Canadian Badlands and Canada AM celebrated with best online video award

The Canadian Badlands, known for its stunning landscapes rife with ancient dinosaur bones, took center stage when “Digging for Dinosaurs: Touring the Canadian Badlands” was named Best Online Video (Canadian and International) at the 2014 Canadian Tourism Commission Go Media Awards in Winnipeg this week. The award-winning video was produced and presented to viewers by CTV News’ national morning news program, Canada AM last year.

The five-minute video, one of three Canadian Badlands features produced and aired by Canada AM last year, was created by the show’s travel contributor Loren Christie and producer Katie Jamieson, upon an invitation to the duo by Canadian Badlands Tourism. Viewers were treated to an up-close experience featuring a Badlands must-see checklist including Dinosaur Provincial Park, Patricia Hotel, Vulcan, Medalta Clay Industries in Medicine Hat, Cypress Hills Interprovincial Park and the Brooks Aqueduct.

“Every weekday, Canada AM is honoured to showcase Canada to Canadians, and this award celebrates our role as ambassadors to sharing the wonder and beauty this country offers,” said Lis Travers, Vice President and Executive Producer, CANADA AM. “The Canadian Badlands offer a unique Canadian experience and really, who doesn’t love dinosaurs!"

“We have a special relationship with Canada’s most watched morning show and that’s why we invited Canada AM back to Drumheller to help launch our first destination marketing campaign in May,” he added.
