Town launches official "High River - Home of Heartland" tourism website

The Town of High River’s Business and Tourism Development office has launched a new tourism website featuring its “High River – Home of Heartland©” brand.

This new website launch is in celebration of the close association that the Town of High River has with the television show Heartland©, which will take another step forward when Mayor Emile Blokland makes a brief appearance as the mayor of Hudson (the fictional town Heartland© is set in), in an upcoming episode from Season 7 which is being filmed in and around High River this summer and fall.

“I was honoured and excited to be asked to make an appearance on Heartland©,” said Mayor Emile Blokland. “The Town is happy to support Heartland© and appreciates the opportunities it brings to High River.”

“We are looking forward to seeing Mayor Blokland appear on TV next season, and are celebrating his time in front of the camera with the launch of our new High River tourism website.” says Dayna Dickens, coordinator for the Business and Tourism Development office. “The new website is just one element of our partnership with the show that allows us to promote High River on an international level.”

High River’s partnership with Heartland© has been growing since being announced in 2012. Through its licensing agreement with the series’ producers, the Town has been able to include official Heartland© images on its new tourism website, and its businesses are now able to sell “High River – Home of Heartland©” branded souvenir merchandise. Local hotels have been exploring new tourism opportunities as well, by creating horseback riding packages, geared to visitors of all ages who are looking for the traditional southern Alberta experience they see on the small screen.
