Edmonton hotels offer special room rate to wildfire evacuees

Edmonton, Alta. – In an effort to assist the many people being evacuated from the Slave Lake area, all member hotels of the Association of Edmonton Convention Hotels will offer an $89 room rate on any available guest rooms.

“As individuals, we are all concerned for the welfare of the citizens of Slave Lake who have been forced to leave their homes on such short notice, as well as for the safety of those people who, we understand, are being evacuated from some energy and transportation company camps in northern Alberta,” said Robert Blackwell, Association of Edmonton Convention Hotels president. “As an association, we are pleased to help out by offering affordable hotel rooms.”
With busy mid-week business travel, many hotels are approaching full occupancy but will offer the discounted rate on whatever rooms are available.
