Servus Heritage Festival Multi-Award Winner at International Festival Convention

The International Festivals and Events Association (IFEA) paid tribute to the Servus Heritage Festival on September 21, 2015 during the IFEA’s annual Convention and Expo in Tuscon Arizona held September 21-23 2015 where the Festival was presented with 7 awards in the prestigious IFEA/Haas & Wilkerson Pinnacle Awards competition. Awards were won in the following categories:

Gold – Best Volunteer Program

Gold – Best Green Program

Gold – Best Festival Event Mobile Application

Gold – Best Event Newsletter

Gold – Best Newspaper Supplement

Bronze – Best Organizational Website

Silver – Grand Pinnacle Award

The professional competition draws entries from among the world’s top festival and events. Winning entries came from organizations as diverse as the 500 Festival, Indianapolis, IN; the National Archives, Washington DC; and Pasadena Tournament of Roses, Pasadena CA with international contenders from destinations such as Sydney, Australia, Krakow Poland, Singapore, Abu Dhabi, UAE and New Delhi, India.

Awards were handed out in 68 different categories in total, including The Grand Pinnacle – the highest award of recognition given to the Festival that has a balance of all the elements necessary to ensure a successful event.

“We are thrilled to be acknowledged for the outstanding accomplishments of all our participating pavilions, thousands of volunteers and numerous community partners,” said Edmonton Heritage Festival Executive Director Jim Gibbon.

“Edmonton has always embraced our ethnic communities and the Servus Heritage Festival, and it is truly an honour to be recognized for so many reasons on such a broad world stage."

Congratulating the Festival for their outstanding entries into this year’s competition, IFEA President and CEO Steven Wood noted that “the competition recognizes the outstanding accomplishments and top quality creative, promotional, operational and community materials produced by festival and events around the world, and raises the global standard of this industry to new levels.”

The 40th Anniversary Servus Heritage Festival took place August 1, 2 & 3 2015 in Hawrelak Park, Edmonton with 61 ethnic pavilions in attendance. Next year’s Festival will also be on the August long weekend.
