Alberta featured in Canadian Tourism Commission’s inaugural “Signature Experiences Collection”

Nine Alberta visitor experiences are featured in the inaugural list of Signature Experiences Collection unveiled by the Canadian Tourism Commission (CTC). The collection forms a new pool of experiences will be added to itineraries for global consumers as well as international travel media and travel trade by the CTC and Travel Alberta in international marketing campaigns.

That nine Alberta visitor experiences are included in the first 48 experiences across the country in the CTC’s inaugural ‘Signature Experiences Collection’ ensures Alberta will be well represented by our national tourism marketing agency in international marketing,” said Bruce Okabe, Chief Executive Officer of Travel Alberta. . “Travel Alberta will also be featuring these same experiences in our marketing programs in our core international markets,” he added.

“We extend our congratulations to the Alberta experiences that made this initial list and encourage the many other authentic experiences that are offered in Alberta’s breathtaking landscapes to apply to be part of this exclusive club of visitor experiences,” said Okabe.

Alberta experiences included in the CTC’s inaugural collection are:

· Brewster Adventures, Banff - Plain of the Six Glaciers Tea House Ride on Horseback in Lake Louise 

· Brewster Travel Canada - Columbia Icefield Glacier Adventure in Jasper National Park

· Calgary Stampede - The Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth (celebrating centennial in 2012 )

· Royal Tyrrell Museum in Drumheller - Dinosaurs Unearthed

· Great Divide Nature Interpretation, Lake Louise - Fondue with a View (with award winning Alberta-made chocolate.)

· High Flying Summer Adventures - Canadian Mountain Holidays Heli-Skiing & Summer Adventures (Canadian Rockies experiences begin in Alberta)

· Iconic Canadian Heritage - Fairmont Hotels and Resorts (Historic Railway Hotels, Banff, Lake Louise, Jasper, Edmonton, Calgary)

· VIA Rail - Trans-Canada Experience aboard the Canadian (Edmonton to Jasper is one of the most scenic parts of the journey)

· Rocky Mountaineer - Ride pure mountain magic (Canadian Rockies Highlights rail tour)

Businesses that want to become part of the collection need to apply to the Canadian Tourism Commission by July 31st. An expert panel reviews applications to see if it meets the criteria for inclusion. Not all applicants will be accepted. Visit to view the selection criteria and learn how to apply.
