Visitor Information Centre staff get ready for summer

More than 150 front-line visitor information staff from across Alberta will attend Spring Training and Showcase, May 7-8 in Edmonton. This training event is designed to deliver an exciting combination of tourism product knowledge and customer service training to front-line Visitor Information Centre (VIC) providers, supervisors, managers and volunteers who will use this knowledge to assist thousands of visitors who stop in at Alberta VICs.

Attendees will learn how to effectively engage visitors through energetic customer service training sessions, increase their knowledge of Alberta’s attractions, activities and events through exciting exhibitor presentations, and network with other VIC staff and tourism industry representatives.

Attendees will hear presentations from exhibitors from all regions of Alberta (North, Rockies, Central, South, Edmonton and Area, Calgary and Area) as they rotate through the Showcase.

New for 2013:

· Explore Alberta’s accommodation providers in Hotel Alley
· Connect with representatives from Travel Alberta, Alberta Parks and Parks Canada
· Return staff can attend a session designed to tackle advanced training topics
· Learn how to make the summer a success by meeting and collaborating with other VICs in regional break-out sessions.

Visitor Information Centre staff can register by April 8.
