Tourism Calgary pleased to name Cindy Ady as CEO

Tourism Calgary’s Board of Directors is pleased to announce that Cindy Ady has accepted the permanent role of Chief Executive Officer of Calgary’s destination marketing organization.

“Cindy will continue to build the Tourism Calgary team and deliver on the goals and objectives in our strategic plan through working with our stakeholders” says Rod McKay, Chair, Tourism Calgary Board of Directors. “There have been significant achievements since Cindy joined Tourism Calgary as Interim CEO in 2013, including an important new long-term agreement with the Calgary Hotel Association, a more focused organizational strategy and the award-winning “Calgary, our doors are open” post-flood awareness campaign.”

“I’m grateful for the confidence the Board of Directors has shown in me,” says Cindy Ady, new CEO, Tourism Calgary. “I’m looking forward to continuing to lead this team toward our goal of growing tourism revenues to $2.3 billion by 2020.”

Cindy’s considerable experience in the tourism industry stems in large part from her four year term as Minister of Alberta Tourism, Parks and Recreation. During her tenure, Cindy served as ambassador to the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics, secured stable funding for tourism development in Alberta and introduced a Crown Corporation governance model at Travel Alberta.

In 2013, Calgary welcomed more than 7.5 million travellers who contributed an estimated $1.6 billion in visitor spending to the local economy.
