Travel Alberta’s Canada’s West Marketplace Scholarship Program supports Alberta-based tourism businesses offering export-ready products or services by providing financial support and coaching to attend the annual Canada’s West Marketplace.

We encourage export-ready, Alberta-based tourism operators to review the criteria to see if this program can help you grow your business.

CWM Scholarship Guidelines

  • Scholars qualify for Travel Alberta investment for the applicable year of the program after successfully attending CWM Marketplace in the same year.
  • Scholarships support one delegate per organization per marketplace.
  • Alberta suppliers exclusively offering accommodations or transportation services, municipal or regional services, or destination marketing organizations are not eligible.

Scholarship Funding Matrix

Travel Alberta Investment Scholarship Recipient Cost
Year One 2018 – Alberta 75% of registration fees, accommodation and transportation expenses for one delegate 25% (estimated at $700)
Year Two 2019 – British Columbia 75% of registration fees, accommodation and transportation expenses for one delegate 25% (estimated at $850)
Year Three 2020 – Alberta 50% of registration fees, accommodation and transportation expenses for one delegate 50% (estimated at $1,100)


Selection Criteria

  • Candidates represent a travel experience that engages the senses and makes connection on an emotional, physical, spiritual, or intellectual level, in line with the Travel Alberta brand promise
  • The experience meets international demand 
  • Proof of a successful domestic marketing plan and adequate marketing budget with the ability to administrate/manage bookings online.
  • Offer booking confirmation online or via email with a 24-hour turnaround.
  • Offer Net Rates, per CWM criteria, typically at least 20% below the published rate
  • Proof of active quality assurance program for high standards
  • A three- year commitment to target international markets
  • Adaptable program to serve the changing needs of overseas clients
