The Opportunity:
Are you passionate about Edmonton and have a strong public relations background? We have a unique opportunity for an outgoing, passionate, results oriented, person to join our team as the Travel Media Relations Manager and establish a positive profile of Edmonton and its diverse travel experiences in regional, national and international markets.

The Role:
Reporting to the Executive Director, Tourism, the specific focus of this role will be to:
• Develop and implement fully integrated marketing plan in collaboration with internal stakeholders
• Create and deliver the Media and Public Relations tactical plan
• Represent Edmonton Tourism at media conferences and marketplaces
• Develop and pitch Edmonton story ideas to regional, national and international media
• Contract and manage writers for story content, as required
• Establish and maintain positive relationships with media and other key stakeholders including, Canadian Tourism Commission,Travel Alberta, Parks Canada and relevant Destination Marketing Organizations
• Assist with budget management and media coverage tracking
• Other duties as required

The Candidate:
Qualified applicants will possess:
• Post-secondary degree in Media and Public Relations and/or a minimum of 2 - 3 years of related experience
• Proven media relationships, particularly in regional markets
• Understanding of Edmonton partners, products, and travel experiences
• Strong writing, editing and proofing ability
• Knowledge of media tracking systems
• Public speaking, special event, familiarization trip planning and promotions experience
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• High degree of motivation and self-reliance
• A positive, professional and knowledgeable image at all times
• Ability to work collaboratively under tight deadlines
• Fluency in French or other languages considered an asset
• Flexibility and ability to travel occasionally
