Economic Development Manager

We have a diverse and exciting opportunity for an Economic Development Manager to join our team! The Economic Development Manager is responsible for providing overall leadership of all aspects of the Economic Development business centre, including short and long term planning and coordinating, developing, implementing and overseeing marketing strategies and projects of the Town of Okotoks Economic Development Plan. 

This position is responsible for developing strategic partnerships to deliver programs and initiatives, while liaising and networking with representatives of Council, business, industry, government, media and other related community organizations. The Town’s recent annexation and expected growth into the future requires this role to be heavily involved in increased light industrial business, and has a strong focus on tourism attraction and retention.

A degree in commerce, planning or a related discipline plus a minimum of 7 years in progressively more responsible positions, including supervisory experience is required. Experience in marketing and community planning, and a proven track record in facilitating new business development in municipal setting are required. Extensive and sound knowledge of municipal affairs, business principles, land use planning is an asset. Diplomacy and discretion are crucial.
