With three new wellness tourism offerings set to open within the next two years, Alberta is becoming a leader in wellness tourism—a rapidly growing sector that’s projected to exceed $1.35 trillion globally by 2028

Joining the current roster of rest and renewal experiences across the province, The Alexander Spa Hotel in Canmore unveiled what’s to come for the new 3.5 storey, adults-only hotel, coming to Spring Creek Village in Canmore in early 2027.

Featuring 44 new suites, spa and wellness facilities, plus activities such as yoga, guided hikes and mindfulness, The Alexander Spa Hotel will host year-round visitors and drive economic impact while creating more than 100 full-time jobs for the community of Canmore.

The addition of new year-round accommodations supports a sustainable, all-seasons tourism sector – in alignment with our goals to increase winter travel demand.

With government, media, and community members, The Alexander Spa Hotel unveiled new renderings offering an exclusive first-look at the plans for the luxury spa facility.

A collaborative partnership

This sister property to The Malcolm Hotel will bring a new wave of wellness tourists to the Canmore area, driving a strong visitor economy for Alberta and cementing our status as a wellness destination of choice for travellers from around the world.

Our destination development team partnered with owner Frank Kernick to provide development support, connections to our network, and alignment to our long-term vision for Alberta’s tourism sector. When a comprehensive business case was built out demonstrating the project’s high growth potential, we accelerated its development by supporting it through our Tourism Investment Program.

The Alexander Spa Hotel is a great example of what happens when we work together with passionate entrepreneurs around a shared vision: to deliver high-quality experiences that encourage travellers to choose Alberta, stay longer, spend more, and travel here in any season.

Powered by sustainability

The Alexander Spa Hotel is unique because it will harness geo-exchange technology to generate renewable power. The Spring Creek Mountain Village is the first community in Alberta to achieve BUILT GREEN Community Status, with a strong commitment to environmental, social and economic sustainability across its properties.

Stay tuned for more updates to come as construction progresses.
