Scandinave Spa, a renowned Canadian wellness brand, has announced that its first Alberta location will open in Edmonton in 2028. While still in development, the Scandinave Spa Edmonton project is already being recognized as a significant milestone in the evolution of Alberta’s tourism landscape. The project is expected to generate approximately $121 million in total economic impact over construction and the first decade of operations.

The Opportunity

The growing global demand for wellness tourism presented an exciting opportunity for Scandinave Group to expand—wellness tourism is projected to exceed $1 trillion globally by 2028.

Edmonton emerged as the ideal location, offering a rare combination of urban vibrancy, direct access to one of Canada’s largest stretches of urban parkland, and direct flight access from countless key markets—including the U.S and Europe—via the Edmonton International Airport.

The Business

Known for its signature Scandinavian thermal therapy experience, Scandinave Spa combines hot and cold outdoor pools, Finnish saunas and steam baths, relaxation spaces, and nature-immersed architecture designed to foster deep rest and rejuvenation.

With a long-standing commitment to environmental stewardship and mindful development, the project will prioritize responsible construction and operations to preserve the integrity of the river valley setting.

Scandinave Group’s upcoming spa in Edmonton will be a state-of-the-art wellness retreat, bringing together the tranquility of nature with modern, sustainable spa design. Overlooking the scenic North Saskatchewan River Valley, this will be the company’s fifth thermal spa destination in Canada, joining other iconic locations in Mont-Tremblant, Blue Mountain, Whistler, and Old Montreal.
