What are product highlights? 

Product highlights are extra details about your listing that help travellers determine if your offering is right for them. Product highlights are displayed on your listing page, enhancing your visibility and searchability on travelalberta.com.  

For example, if you own an adventure tourism company, you can highlight tour offerings tailored to different skill levels. Additionally, you can indicate whether your offering requires specific equipment and if rentals are available. 

Product highlights might cover: 

  • The traveller type you’re catering to 
  • The skill level required 
  • Activity or experience duration 
  • If your experience is guided or self-guided 
  • Gear or equipment requirements 

Why are they important? 

While optional, adding product highlights is a quick and easy way to boost your listings. 

Product highlights provide: 

  • Improved discoverability. They increase your listing’s visibility and searchability on travelalberta.com, improving its chance of being found by travellers searching for specific criteria or interests. 
  • Increased conversion. They can attract more engaged travellers, which could lead to higher booking potential and improved conversion rates. 
  • Differentiation. They help categorize your offering and distinguish it from competitors. 
  • Improved clarity. They give essential details about what’s included, who your offering is for, and any special requirements. 

How do they help travellers? 

Highlights allow ATIS to categorize your product based on factors like audience type, duration of the activity/experience, accessibility information and more. This ensures your product reaches its ideal audience.  

How does Travel Alberta use this information? 

The Travel Alberta team leverages product highlights to curate content pages, articles, road trips and itineraries. This means that listings with highlights can appear in more places on travelalberta.com, increasing visibility and exposure to millions of site visitors.

Adding product highlights to a listing 

When you create a new listing, you’ll be prompted to add product highlights during the regular setup process. Learn more about creating a listing here. 

If you’d like to add highlights to an existing listing, follow these steps: 

  1. Sign in to ATIS 
  2. From your dashboard, navigate to My Listings 
    • On desktop, it’ll be on the left side of your screen 
    • On mobile, it’ll be in the three-line icon at the top right corner of your screen 
  3. In the Active tab, choose the listing you want to update 
  4. In the Overview tab, locate the highlights section and click Edit  
  5. Click Add Product Highlights 
  6. Click Add to Listing beside the questions relevant to your offering 
  7. Click Done 
  8. Review the questions and select all applicable answers from the pre-determined list 
  9. Click Save Changes
