Past visitor spending and trip length can help us understand which tourism markets are most likely to include high-value travellers – visitors more likely to spend more per visit, yield the highest return on investment, and make the greatest contribution to Alberta’s economic growth.

Spend per Traveller is the average amount a visitor spent on goods and services related to their trip. Average Trip Duration is the average number of days a traveller stayed during their trip.

Statistics Canada collects visitation and expenditures from within the province, the rest of Canada, and international countries through their Visitor Travel Survey (VTS) and National Travel Survey (NTS).
