Investing in what makes Alberta unique
Indigenous tourism provides travellers with deep, meaningful, and enjoyable experiences, while supporting the livelihoods of Indigenous entrepreneurs, and providing a platform for the sharing of cultures and histories.
The industry is supported by Indigenous Tourism Alberta (ITA), which assists and promotes authentic Indigenous tourism experiences across the province.
Growing our vital partnership
Over the next three years, Travel Alberta will contribute $6 million to grow ITA.
This investment will support the development of new tourism products, help expand existing offerings and more effectively market Indigenous experiences.
Working together
With support from our Tourism Investment Program:
- Mahikan Trails created a new year-round space for visitors to learn, eat and stay, surrounded by nature and immersed in Indigenous culture.
- Blackfoot Crossing Historical Park received funding for 13 new immersive tipi accommodations.
To develop Indigenous tourism in Alberta, we have to work together. Alberta is already knocking it out of the park because we’re working together to tell these stories to the world. To grow the industry, we’ll need to partner as much as possible. It’s not just about Indigenous tourism. It’s all of us.
