Start the path to selling internationally
The best way to manage and sustain growth as your tourism business and product mature is to become export-ready. If you answer yes to the criteria in the checklist below, it’s time to reach out to your Destination Development Manager (if you haven’t already) to start the path to selling internationally.
- In business for at least one year, with a proven track record for safe and professional operation
- Proof of appropriate licensing and insurance
- Mature marketing program with appropriate marketing materials clearly displaying your product available for sellers
- Up to date tourism-based website
- Efficient booking system for reservations, changes and confirmation.
- Accept payment from overseas clients (cheque, wire transfer or credit card), provide billing system function and extend credit to receptive tour operators
- Established budget and marketing plan including international distribution channels
- Understand net pricing and booking channels
- Able to offer/confirm net pricing 12 to 18 months in advance
- Accept vouchers from tour operators.
- Confirm allocation one year in advance
- Establish industry standard purchase options and cancellation dates
- Accurate description of product and any required joining instructions: pick up locations, timing and clothing requirements for promoting your product
- Ability to provide the products/services as promised. Consumer protection laws stipulate customers receive what has been promised
- Language capabilities to serve international target markets
- Ability to adapt to the needs of the overseas clients (cultural practice, food, observances)
- Demonstrate a commitment to enter and stay in an international market for a minimum of three years.
