Exciting summer travel counsellor opportunity available at the West Glacier, Montana Travel Alberta Visitor Information Centre! Increase your knowledge of the great tourism experiences and destinations that Alberta has to offer, develop skills that will

We are seeking individuals that are personable, customer service oriented, resourceful, proactive and passionate about promoting Alberta. Excellent interpersonal, communication, sales and promotional skills are required for success in this position.
The following position is available:
Travel Counsellor
Primary responsibilities:
- Provide exceptional customer service to visitors travelling to Alberta;
- Actively promote attractions and destinations across the province, including trip planning and booking;
- Influence visitors to do more and extend their length of stay in Alberta;
- Distribute information and essential travel tips;
- Complete administrative tasks such as preparing reports, and collecting and entering visitor statistics.
Starting Salary: from $18.84-$21.35 per hour plus 11.2% in lieu of vacation and statutory holiday pay.
Qualifications:
- All candidates must have a high school education and at least one year of customer service experience. Preference will be given to candidates with some post-secondary education in tourism, hospitality and/or a related field.
- Knowledge of a second language and experience with Alberta’s tourism industry and tourism destinations are considered assets. Equivalencies will be considered.
- Familiarity with the internet and computers (including Microsoft applications) is essential.
- First Aid Certification is required.
- All applicants must have a valid passport and the ability to travel in the United States.
Notes:
These positions are summer employment term opportunities. Weekend and Statutory Holiday work is required. Dorm-style accommodations are provided. Attendance at training in Edmonton (May 4 – 7, 2015) is a condition of employment. All applicants must be
able to work from May 4-Sept 7, with the possibility of working until the end of September. Successful candidates will be required to obtain First Aid Certification before commencing.
