Talking tourism at the Town Hall

In March, our federal partners—the Tourism Industry Association of Canada and Destination Canada—along with industry partners across the province met in Edmonton to discuss the growth potential for Alberta’s visitor economy.  

North America’s first Creator House

Travel Alberta, Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity, Banff & Lake Louise Tourism and Hecktic Media Inc. joined forces to present the Creator House concept, a centralized hub for content creators and influencers. After the successful pilot in Banff, we partnered with Tourism Calgary in summer 2019 to invite influencers to explore the city and surrounding areas. 

SHiFT Sylvan Lake

The SHiFT Experiential Training Program is one of Travel Alberta’s most unique and sought-after programs. The 2019 SHiFT course took place March 18-21 in Sylvan Lake, where 24 tourism businesses and DMOs immersed themselves in learning how to take their products to the next level. SHiFT recently won the Award of Excellence for curriculum design from the Institute for Performance and Learning.

Mexico reverse sales mission

Travel Alberta hosted 20 tour operators, travel trade media, and other key strategic partners from Mexico to experience all the great things to see and do in winter. Alberta partners met with the Mexican delegation at mini-marketplaces in Edmonton, Jasper, Banff and Calgary to introduce their winter tourism products and services—an opportunity they wouldn’t normally get!

Creator Community launch

Travel Alberta’s new Creator Community encourages Alberta-based photographers, videographers and writers to connect and share Alberta travel experiences with their social-media followers. Through meet-ups, educational summits, incentives and travel opportunities throughout Alberta, the program’s goal is to enable content creators to improve their craft and share Alberta experiences with their thousands of followers and fans.

Celebrating Alberta’s visitor economy during Tourism Week

Every year Tourism Week is an opportunity to shine a spotlight on our industry and the positive impact it has on the Alberta economy. We engaged with tourism partners, the public and media throughout the week. 

CDME training continues in 2020

Travel Alberta’s partnership with Destinations International to host Certified Destination Management Executive (CDME) courses in Alberta is a “go” for 2020. The CDME designation is the highest individual educational achievement in the tourism industry and Travel Alberta is the only provincial marketing organization to offer the CDME courses outside of the U.S.

Celebrating the industry at TAIC

Collaboration, innovation and forward-thinking: these are just some of the themes from the 2019 Travel Alberta Industry Conference, October 27-29 in Banff. Over 600 industry partners came together to celebrate the 20th annual conference, as well as our Alto Ambassador Bob Williams, and all the Alto winners.

Developing the 10-Year Tourism Strategy for Alberta

Travel Alberta is excited to work with the Government of Alberta, industry partners and stakeholders around the province to develop a new 10-Year Tourism Strategy for sustainable growth. We kicked-off engagement with industry partners at the Travel Alberta Industry Conference.
