Alto Awards update

May 28, 2020

After careful thought, the Alto Committee is excited to announce they are moving ahead with a special version of the Alto Awards, to acknowledge the changes that have occurred in our industry this year. While respectfully acknowledging that many of our industry partnersour friendshave been hit hard, the committee is passionate about celebrating the agility, creativity and dedication our industry has demonstrated.

Therefore, the 2020 Alto Awards have been reimagined to reflect the current times and challenges that our industry, and our world, is facing.

In the coming weeks we will be sending out a call for nominations for tourism champions inspiring you in your community or workplace, to recognize the incredible work of our industry. Look out for award applications and nominations forms here on the Industry Hub, and on Travel Alberta’s LinkedIn and Twitter.

2020 Alto Ambassador update

Understanding that your immediate priority is the health of your businesses, families and employees, the Alto Awards committee has taken the difficult decision to pause the search for the 2020 Alto Ambassador. The committee felt that while it is important to continue to find ways to celebrate our tourism heroes and the best of the best in our industry, we will reassess the best way to do that in the coming weeks and months. The committee will continue to meet as the COVID-19 situation unfolds and consider what an industry-led celebration could look like closer to the fall.

2019 Alto Ambassador Bob Williams shares a message to tourism partners about the recent challenges to our industry and the decision to pause the search for the 2020 Alto Ambassador.
